Paron's West, between 7th & 8th, I think off 31st. This is the store that runs Manhattan Fabrics website. Just had a great experience there.

Check back issues of Threads and message archive for more ideas.

I found some great fabric stores on 37th and 38th street between 7th and 8th Av. They are literally all over the place--it seemed like every other door. Have fun.

I did some searching here because I knew there were several discussions about where to shop in NYC.  So, here is the scoop; there are two discussions you can check out and they tell you some info about the different places to shop. The numbers are: 5333.3 and 6437.1  - you can do an advanced search for them here in Gatherings.

Then there is this link to Paula Nedersterns site and she keeps a list of stores - I don't know if this is every store but if you go to all of these you will find plenty of fabric, notion, trims, etc.  The link is http://www.paulanadelstern.com     Go to the main page for her site and she has a list of links for her site. Choose the Fabric/ NYC Garment District Guide.

    Good luck, jane

This link doesn't work. Is there a mistake in it?
YOu can also go over to patternreview.com and search for their list of stores from the pr weekend. Terrific list with addresses.
I would try Mood fabrics and a lot of people love Metro Textile. I found Kashi a bit too pushy for my taste. There is B and J of course, but if you are looking for bargains, don't go here! But they have an enormous stock. Paron has two stores, the half price and the regular. I have found some amazing bargains over the years at the half price store. There are other places, but I usually buy at either Paron or Mood. There is also Spandex house for knits.
For notions, Steinloff and Stoller, Greenberg and Hammer. I think that they are moving. Try their site for their new address. M and J trim on 6th ave they have great buttons and trims.
