Hello! I am searching for thread that is either made in the USA, Fair Trade and/or Organic. Does any one have a resource on where to buy?
Thank,
Misty

Misty, if you could indulge this baby boomer---I know what organic is but is Fair Trade and Organic a brand name you are looking for? Pardone my ignorance of the terms but I am just not familiar with them in relation to thread. Thanks,

HI Solo. . . I was just looking for thread that was Fair Trade (meaning either made in the USA or imported from another country made under the Fair Trade association stardards--fair wage for wook-fair working environments-and no child labor). Organic of course means that is made without genetic alterations or chemicals. I did find a spool of organic fair trade fabric now being manufactured by Coates and Clark. Previously, I had only been able to buy their thread which came from Mexico but it looks at though the eco-movement has finally provided us with green conscious thread. If anyone else knows another source, that would be great.
peace,
M
Thanks for the explanation, greatly appreciated!

I have seen organic thread somewhere in my web browsing. I will look for it again and post the site if I can find it.

Hi,
I found a source for cotton organic thread. It is called NearSea Naturals. This website contains different kinds of fabrics as well as notions that are certified as organic. If you google sewing organic fabrics this website should appear as it did for me. Hope this helps.
