Fancy Nancy Dress

blondie2sew | Posted in Photo Gallery on

Wow it seems like a lifetime that I have been on here to post or just had the time to read!!

My Daughter Giselle just had her 7th Birthday Party on Sat..We had a Fancy Nancy Dress up party…What a blast!!

Her daddy and I bought her the Fancy Nancy Doll and Posh Puppy and I couldn’t buy the FN Party dress at Target was really poorly made to be nice..So of course I just had to make her one!! I was so excited I did it as a surprise for that day..and wow it fit her to boot!!

Ok Fancy Nancy for those who are unaware is wonderful Books by Jane O’Conner and wonderfully illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser. We have all of them and If you have a girl who is into all that you need to get the books!! I enjoy them as well

The items now that are coming out I found them at Target and I couldn’t not get them for her Birthday…

As you can see the dress is exactly like the one on FN Doll. And she is also wearing it in the second Book Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy..

It is all about Fancy Nancy!!

Enjoy the pics I so enjoyed replicating the dress!!!

How much fun you must have had creating your daughter's dress!!! I'm sure she and her friend's will have wonderful memories of this party - the picture with the boas brought a smile as I remembered my daughter prancing about with her pink boa!  You did a beautiful job!

It's great to "hear" from you again and see your latest creation!  How adorable and fun for both of you!  Your such a great Mom!  I'll be checking into those books and dolls to see if they will be a good fit for any of our friends' daughters.  Giselle looks so thrilled with her doll and thier matching outfits.  All the girls look so cute in thier fancy outfits and boas, I'm sure they will treasure the memories you made together.

The dress looks great, right down to the darling poodle appliques!  Too cool!  Mary

Oh my stars, what a wonderful party that was.  Your daughter must have been so delighted to get that dress that she is beaming from the inside out.  It was so wonderful of you to make it for her.  What a lucky little girl she is indeed to have you to sew for her.  All of the little fancy ladies look wonderful.  I'm just tickled to see them...giggle!

I'm all warm and fuzzy with you.  That's a great feeling.  When my GD's were young I made holloween costumes mostly.  But whatever I made for them, they were so happy to get it.  It does make you feel swollen with pride.

What a beautiful family you are - & what a party!  It will be remembered fondly by all.  The pic with the little girls drinking their 'tea' with their pinkies out is priceless.  All the little guests will want fancy parties now - you may have started a trend!

Thanks I am just waiting for some of the moms to say "Thanks Connie" Now I am going to have to do this....

They will.  Years ago, when my son was 7, we had a birthday party for him & were really surprised that all the kids were dressed up when they arrived (girls had long dresses on).  It wasn't planned to be a dress-up occasion, but it's amazing how the fancy clothes make a difference to the child's behaviour.  I served fancy rolled sandwiches on silver trays, which the kids were all amazed at, as they'd never seen any like that before, & the cake I'd decorated had Spanish galleons on top on a blue sea, we played lots of indoor games (now that everyone was dressed up) & they took loot bags home.  I received so many phone calls & cards from the parents after, as their kids raved about this party for ages.  My son still talks about that party & others that I'd planned & he's 38 - so your sweet daughter won't forget this one, either.

Words that were very well deserved

Hi - seems a long time since I spoke to you - love the photos - but I must admit I opened the first one and wondered what style? After opening the others I realised that they are excellent versions of a dolls costume - and that ur daughter must love them! You must bear in mind that I have no idea of anything about a Fancy Nancy Doll and didn't read your post first - just clicked on the picture... Surely if it wasn't for copywrite - you could sell these!

Thanks Jan...Your right on the copywrite...And yes that is why I wanted to explain the colors...You should have seen the ladies at the cutting counter when I brought up all the combo of fabrics...they just looked at me and of course had to ask...I did have a pic with me so then they could picture it..My husband said to me after it was done..Wow it looks like a "Cow met the Easter Bunny"..I was laughing...somehow it all works though go figure!!And yes it has been a long time since we spoke..I must post to you and the others on my sewing program for the kids I was chatting to you all and asking questions about way back when....When I have the time watch for the post!!Thanks for the kudos Jan
