felted purse

kayrosie | Posted in General Discussion on

Has anybody knitted a felted purse. I am looking for a pattern. Has there ever been one in Threads.

I don't remember one offhand. These purses have become popular with the resurgence of interest in knitting/felting. Many of the yarn companies have websites and offer all manner of free patterns. Try this: http://www.lionbrand.com/

Also, there are several knitting magazines on the racks - felted bags are frequently featured.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the info.  I know I saw it somewhere in a magazine but I can't remember where. Will have to check it out some more.  Thanks anyway.

I will type in the lion site and see what I get.  I am sure I have seen it before on here somewhere. Finding it is the secret

I did a quick search on this site - didn't get much. Did you perhaps see it in some other discussion group? If you Google felted purses you'll get a lot of results.

I have actually already did that and did not come up with the one I wanted. I will have to keep searching.

I did get it pulled up but nothing that I reall wanted.  Thanks anyway.  I should have downloaded it when it first came up.  I am going to just not worry about it for awhile.

        Hi there,
I like to check out my local library for books on what I am working on. There are over 500 knitting books alone that I have read.
        Just a thought. :)

Looking for some info on another topic, I came across an article in Sew News (Nov '04) with instructions for felting wool fabrics, with a section on making a purse. Then on the back page of the magazine there's another write-up about a woman who makes purses out of felted hand-knitted wool, but no instructions there, just an offer of kits with yarn, and I assume instructions for felting the knitted product, as well as finished felted handbags for sale. Maybe there's something at the mag's website at http://www.sewnews.com?P.S. I saw a sign up recently in our local Michael's showing felted knitted wool purses, offering a how-to class. Is there a Michael's near you?
