   I think it is a lot more than just "pretty darn nice".  You did an excellent job.  It is a beautiful quilt.

   Thanks for the kind words.  While I was making it, I was stressing about every little mistake, and almost threw in the towel and quit. But then I realized that a perfectionist never finishes anything, and I had to get out of that mindset. When it was all finished, I couldn't even find my little mistakes that seemed so glaring at the time. I am so glad to have the advice of experienced quilters on this board. My next quilt will be faster, easier, and less stressfull!

   That's a great quilt! Well done.I took a quilt class from Harriet Hargrave; one of the tenets she lives by is that only God can make perfect things. We humans may strive for *excellence*. Let that set you free!

   Yes, only God is perfect, but I'm thinking I could get closer to perfection with a machine quilting frame setup. Someone on my local Craigslist has the Juki 98e and Handi-quilter frame for an unbelievable $500 for both! How can anyone pass that up?

   Great job!! If you couldn't find your mistakes (and you were LOOKING for them), no one else will ever imagine that there are any. You're already thinking of your next quilt--I suspect there will be even more to come. :-)

   Thank you! This pattern is called "Icepops", from the book "Denyse Schmidt Quilts". I loved it so much that I copied it exactly, using her colors. It seems to me like she takes her inspiration from the quilters of Gee's Bend. 

   This took a long time to make because you can't just measure out the rectangles and cut multiples; the rectangles are usually bigger on one end than on the other, so you have to make templates and cut most of the pieces individually. But it's worth it, because you get that effect that fools the eye and makes it so interesting to look at.
