fitting pants for problem areas

lizziesews | Posted in Talk With Us on

I would love to wear jeans, or any other type of pant, but the only ones that i can wear are scrubs. I would like to alter thrift store finds, but am willing to start from scratch.   I wear a brace on my left knee so that leg has to be wider.  I’ve taught myself to make a box pleat so I could do that on one or both sides.  Due to  lower back surgery I cannot tolerate a waistband of any sort.  Hiphuggers might be a possibility if the fit is right for someone who has lost her waistline!  A high waist – Hollywood waist? – might be a possibility but am not sure how to alter for one.  I like funk and off-the-wall styles so am not concerned that they won’t look like anyone elses. Any suggestions would be appreciated.   Incidently, the surgeries do not mean that I’m getting old, I just go in for routine maintenance.

I have made clothes for people with various physical problems...........but it's really hard to suggest styles. Trail and error plus a mirror is what you need!

I often refer to "fashon for disabled people" NellieThornton .....it has some good advise about altering pattern and also ready made items althought he clothes seem very out of date and boring.

    Good luck
