Maybe you should try searching under different terms, such as "foldaway tables" or "folding work tables." A lot of hobbies require large, flat work surfaces, so try looking into the suppliers for model train fans, artists, and hobbyists.
I use a folding cardboard cutting mat atop our dining room table; when the project involves longer lengths, I use the hardwood floor in our living instead. I sit on a pillow and try to bring everything I need so that I only have to get down and back up again once.
A friend once told me that she uses her kids' foldaway pingpong table for laying out patterns, and nearly everyone who has grown children has one they're happy to give away!
