I have made two blouses using two different standard patterns. The top of each buttoned collar is too high on the front of my neck, making them too uncomfortable to wear. I would appreciate guidance on how to address this problem. Thank you.

You can lower the neckline. Determine how much lower it must be. The easiest for me would be to trace the pattern neckline from the shoulder seam to about 3 inches down the centre front. Place the tracing under the pattern piece and slide the pattern down the the amount needed, then trace the tracing onto the pattern. The neckline cutting line must be smoothed out; a tailor's curved ruler is a big help doing this. Remove the excess. If you prefer to maintain the original pattern, and don't mind tracing, trace it first and alter while tracing. I trace, and alter, almost everything, so easy for me to say. Lengthen the collar the same amount in the same place, at the shoulder notch. Make a muslin to check if this will be comfortable. The muslin does not have to be for the whole bodice, down to the top of the side seam would be good.
The collar is such an important area to have fitting well, it's so near the face. Good luck.

Interesting information. I often encounter fitting issues and this thread helped me improve my skills. Newbies as well are the professional tailors could still encounter fitting issues so advice from those who encountered particular problems are really helpful.
