Hi All,
I’m back with yet another FBA question. =) I am 38DD and interested in adjusting a jacket pattern with a flat front (no princess seams or side darts) and a yoke across the upper bust. I know that I need to cut and spread the pattern to accommodate my fullness. My question is do I need to cut up to the yoke or through the yoke up to the shoulder? The pattern I’m referring to is Butterick B4463
(http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/butterick/shop.cgi?s.item.B4463=x&TI=10006&page=4).
Also, I just want to say reading the posts have inspired me again. Thank you all for being so willing to share your thoughts and hints!

I just did an FBA on a shirt pattern that has a back yoke that extends up and over the shoulder, but not very far into the front. It didn't come low enough that it was affected by the FBA.
I think that if the jacket yoke comes down far enough then you'd need to tape the yoke and front together, make the alteration, and go from there. If the yoke doesn't extend that far then you're probably OK. In other words, if the yoke is in a part of the front that you wouldn't ordinarily be altering, then you don't need to alter the yoke.
Thank you, ladies. I will try it!

I would copy the pattern pieces onto some tissue paper and then tape the yoke to the body and do the FBA in the usual way and then separate the two when you have completed it.
