Garment Label Recommendations

Sunshine | Posted in General Discussion on

Season’s Greetings to Everyone!

Time for all that holiday and gift sewing!  My DH keeps saying I need to have special clothing labels that I can put in the clothes & gifts I make for myself, family and friends. The “Hand-made by ..” and “Made with Love by Grandma” labels at Joanns/Hancocks just don’t cut it, either in terms of originality or price.  I don’t have an embroidery machine to custom-make them on ribbon.  A friend suggested printing a design on fabric with the ink-jet suppies, but I’m not thrilled with all the work involved.  So, I’m looking for a company that can make a semi-custom label in small quantities (50-100).  One reference I found is to Custom Couture Label Co, which looks like what I want. (http://www.customcouturelabelcompany.com/store/Default.asp)

Does anyone have recommendations for other sources?  I did a search on this website and got a list from 2 years ago.  Most sources required a minimum of 1000 (impossible at my rate of sewing!) or were fairly pricey.

Has anyone ordered from and used the Custom Couture Labels? The ability to sew in or iron on looks good, their prices are quite reasonable, and there is the ability to make them semi-custom.  They are printed rather than woven, which helps to keep the price down, and are supposed to wash well without fading, etc. Comments from anyone who has used these are certainly welcome!!!

TIA!

While I can't offer you the help you want, I just wanted to thank you for posting.  I wanted to add it to my Christmas list for my husband to purchase, and will give him the website and deadline (Dec. 5).

So, thanks for the link.  In my opinion, I wouldn't keep searching.  The designs they show are very nice, and the prices are really reasonable.  Go for it!

I like that website, too. I've sent the link to my husband, as well. Thanks for posting it. I'd go ahead and purchase them; no sense in stewing about this idea for too long... I think you've found your solution!

This might not be exactly what you want but this company in my home town has always intrigued me.  Seems to be food and wedding labels and not fabric labels

    You could ask them?

I don't have experience with Custom Couture Labels . . . but, after looking at their website, the labels look like a good value.

I prefer woven labels and for years I used Heirloom Woven Labels . . . I ordered from their "Group 3" Labels.  Minimum order is 25 and goes up from there.  You can find more information at the following website.

About a year ago, I decided I was using more labels and could justify ordering 1,000 custom woven labels with my logo on it.  I ended up ordering my labels from Clothing Labels 4U since they would do a "split" order for a small fee . . . 1/2 the labels light on dark and the 1/2 dark on light.

You can find more information about them at

I was very happy with the products and services from both companies.

Hello here's a company that i purchased my labels from but it takes about 3 to 4 weeks for your labels to arrive you can order them by phone if you use your credit  card 1(800)772-2891 or go online http://www.clotilde.com but if you order them phone you may not have such a long wait but I'm not sure

I have ordered size labels from a company that also does custom labels.  You might want to check it out......... http://www.generallabel.com    I got some labels like you mentioned........."especially handmade for you by" etc. and they have my name on them but I can't remember where I picked them up!!  oops!  Anyway, General Label has 30 designs you can choose from and they will print your name on them....or you can do custom.

I think it would be worth your while to check out the website.  Good luck!

    Happy Sewing!

I have used these labels for years and do like them very much.  My husband wants me to put one in anything I make for him.  I guess it makes him feel "elegant"
