garment steamers

DaleAKetch | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

I’m interested in purchasing a garment steamer and have been researching Jiffy J-2000 and a Rowenta product. The catalogue company Hammacher Schlemmer also sells a Jiffy steamer that looks like the  J-2000, but it has a faster heat up time and a longer steam time. I can’t find the matching specifications on the Jiffy site though. Does any one know about these products or others? I’ve tried looking up the Jiffy J-2000 steamer shown in Threads issue #127 (Breast Cancer Awareness), but couldn’t locate it on line.

I have had a Jiffy Steamer for over 15 years and recommend the steamer highly.  I am not sure what model I have, but it sits on the floor and has a big gallon water jug inverted for the water.  It heats fairly fast and I have had only one problem that I caused not the steamer.  It feel off the arm and cracked.  I called Jiffy and got a replacement head in two days.

I find this machine a great money saver.   The ability to steam clothes is faster than pressing between dry cleaner runs which then become less frequent.  I also use the steamer for hats, installing new drapes, bedspreads etc. and to freshen upholstery.

The comapny has been in business for a very long time and while I am not affiliated with them I love my steamer and recommend it very highly.

      Hi Susan,

Thanks for replying about the Jiffy steamer. From what I've read too, it seems to be the company to choose. I have a small closet and everything that's ironed needs reironing when it comes out! I'm hoping the steamer will help with that problem too.
