Gatherings Forum Setup

victoria0001 | Posted in General Discussion on

I don’t even visit this forum much any more. It seems too difficult and a burden to use. I have trouble searching; posting; and generally reading the different responses. Guess I’ve lost interest since it has become more complex. Whatever happened to simplicity and ease in locating specific subjects? This new setup is way too time consuming and not helpful to me any more. Does anyone else have difficulty with this new setup?

Yes, I agree with you. I used to be here daily, now I pop in perhaps once a week. There's not much traffic; I think most of us have vacated the premises. I also think that the new management want it this way, or they'd have woken up to smell the coffee and reverted to a more usable format.

If you're interested, check out the sewing discussion at the Stitchers Guild Forum.

Were you able to retreive the many posts bemoaning the new format, you'd know for certain you've many in your boat of dissatisfaction. Why the platform changed has much to do with the intricacy of cyberspace. Navigating now does indeed take a much different approach. It is what it is & I dare say 'twill ever be thus. Browse back when & if you can. Maybe the doing will "grow" on you.

Yes, it has become so difficult that I can't even post this reply where I wanted to, as a response to Meg, thanking her for the StitchersGuild forum information. On this "revamped" Threads forum, it is difficult find anything to read, much less post easily. Such a loss...

      Hi, Teaf!

They really are still working on this place ... noticed just now that the "Reply" button is back under *each* message, not just the first or last one in a thread...

... and that the "Reply" box now has an adjustable-size dealie at the lower right corner, so you can see more than a couple lines of your post... and the "Save" button now reads "Post" like it should!!

Oh and plus!  No need for a "Preview" button - the reply is WYSIWYG ~ cool!

      Hang in here, please!

      Bright Blessings!  ~ Kharmin

I too find this a trial and do not visit very often! I hope things get better 'cause I miss being able to contact the board for help or just read and post.

MO, the best members can do is "deal" with the platform as it is. For >> ... things (to) get better ... << would mean a monetary cost & time. Neither of which is likely to come into play any time soon since the change over is less than a year old.

    I'm getting a little better
I'm getting a little better at finding stuff here, mostly by looking just for recent comments (as you have noted, there isn't a lot of activity, though). The new setup was obviously designed by a wonk totally obsessed with technology, with no interest in the actual nature of the board or the interests of the members.

The artisanssquare website has good, lively discussions on sewing. I think the most active and user-friendly sewing site is http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/index.pl/ which was designed by a young computer expert who really, really wanted to learn to sew and didn't have a local sewing community. There are thousands of members now.

As mentioned on the right side of the page you offered -

      >> I started this site because every time I pick up a new pattern for a project, I wonder what's in store for me. Should I sew with this pattern? I searched for a crafts & pattern review site but since I found none, I decided to create one!...more ~Deepika

The web site owner is based in New England. As can be noted by browsing the all, it has a significant following.

This doing follows the thought of - for success, find a need & fill it.

    Hello All,

We are working to fix many of the issues reported and add requested features to the forums. I have updated the Forum Status area to the right with new items, and will check back with any news as soon as I can. The tech team is working quickly, so you may see changes before I have a chance to update the list to the right.

    Thanks,

    Vicky
