I DID go and see the Devil wears Prada wit my husband ...

For him, the dark  underbelly of the fashion industry stood out much more than it did for me.  The whole focus on thin.  (The main character in the movie starts dieting to fit into smaller size clothing.)  I can't blame my husband for not wanting his daughters to get the message than the only way to be is as thin as you can get!

Sorry to add a negative note -- I thought the movie was fun.   But I also think my husband has a good point.

I do agree with you that is why I did think it was fun however I would not recommend this to the younger generation because of it. We can laugh and make light of it however it has a lot of truth to it!!You didn't add any negative...Although movies are fun some need be viewed by us for the fact that it may not be age or content appropriate for viewing of our kids. And that is a personal opinion. I my open up a can of worms but I totally agree with what you are saying. Thanks for your comments.

But the whole film is showing up the fashion industry as being ridiculous . Thats the whole point . I think that this film is actually a great weapon in teaching young women and men to NOT be slaves to this bunch of shallow individuals who have nothing more in their lives as the latest handbag from Fendi!!

I guess I have to see this one! I've read the book...it made wonderful, "lying by the pool" summer reading. The ridiculousness of the fashion industry is probably even more apparent in print, but I imagine that Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestly (it is Meryl Streep, isn't it?)would do it justice.

Well just to get it all in perspective THEN go and see Al Gores film It is really great and everyone who inhabits our little blue ball should see it . He has managed to produce something which is factual apolitical and very thought provoking!!
