Can I wash and iron this myself?
100% silk, black, “smoking jacket,” made in Switzerland: Ermenegildo Zegna “SOFT.” (The lining is also black.)
The threads are very fine, and the weave is faintly loose and striated giving it, I suppose, the “SOFT” moniker.
I want to treat this well; retail was $800. If I should not wash it myself, how do I find a cleaning service qualified to handle it?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Carl

First of all is there a care tag in the jacket? If so follow those instructions. The problem with hand washing and ironing would be if the dyes that were used are not waterproof the color may fade or completely change all together. The same is true in reverse if the care label says hand wash and you dry clean it the color and/or the hand of the material can be affected. If there is no care label try contacting the manufacturer of the jacket and ask. I know that this is not really an answer to your question but there are so many variables. Good luck.
Thanks Terry!
the tag says to Prof. Dry Clean.
So now, to find that Prof. dry cleaner....
Thx again,
Carl
NO NO NO! Its likely to be disaster. there will be all sorts fof construction materials which will react water differently and the loose fibres may become even more so . Let a dry cleaner do it for you .
