When I first joined Gatherings it was all about sewing. Now it is full of spam and occassionally a new sewing question.
I doubt if I will continue visiting this forum as it has become a waste of my time.

Hi Patti Ann,
Hope I spelled your name correctly; I'm guessing from your user name. I agree completely with you about the status of the forums. There is not the same level of activity and interaction in Gatherings as there used to be. I believe that a lot of the users may have found other sources of information, such as PatternReview.com. I don't begrudge other sites their level of community and shared information. This is an older format, and the editors have new responsibilities that make it difficult to devote effort in the forums. I have been spending more time in the forums, trying to answer questions - but not finding many - and cleaning up spam. The spam is constant, but we try to clean it out as quickly as possible.
I don't have an easy solution to revive Gatherings. I do know two things: There is a wealth of information from the community in here - although it's not being refreshed often - so I do think it is valuable to new users. The other thing is that we are coming up on a total website redesign for Threads magazine, and that could mean a wonderful new experience.
Let me know your further thoughts on all if this, if you have time. Thank you for your comments. I appreciate your concerns.
Best regards,
Sarah McFarland, Editor
Hi, Patti Ann,
I'd like to add to Sarah McFarland's reply. There's more action these days on Threads' Facebook page, so I encourage you to visit there and see what's happening. Also, if you have a specific technical question, please feel free to email me, at [email protected]. I'm the Q&A editor, and always welcome questions from readers.
We all share your wish that there were a little more activity here, and we hope that, with our future redesign, we'll have more visitors sharing their experiences and love of sewing here.
Thanks for writing.
