HELP!!

smockerlady | Posted in Talk With Us on

Hi there,

Would absolutely love some feedback.

Saw the recommendation from threads about Pattern Magic 2 and bought the book. I really, really want to draft the sleeve pattern that is on the cover. Wrote to the publishers as I needed further guidance…………….they say they dont speak Japanese and therefore cannot liaise with the author. Would love the lady from Threads………..Nicole Smith to let me know her thoughts as she recommended the book. It shows you how to draft the sleeve for a standard Japanese size, but doesn’t give any charts for amending to make smaller or larger sizes; surely the details cannot be the same for all sizes?? The page on how to do this sleeve, only shows how to draft the sleeve pattern, but there are no instructions on how you successfully set in the sleeve?? Is it me, am I being a total faded, dumb blonde? I so want to constuct this sleeve into a childs flower girl dress and I am seriously running out of time. The publishers say they cannot give any help?

Then, I spotted the article on the threads webpage about Marfy Patterns………..fell in love with pattern 2608……….the elegant high waisted sheath dress. Sent off an email to order the pattern to be shipped to me in Turkey ( some companies class Turkey as Europe, others dont) and asked if they could clarify shipping costs and email me so I could place my order…………over a week and still no acknowledgement.

I feel as a sewist that I am actually out in the wilderness………..I get tempting emails and then when I actually try and order anything or try and get advice…………………..silence.

Can anyone out there help me??

I have Pattern Magic 1 and 2. I have not made patterns from either but I love them! They are probably not ideal if you are beginner at pattern making.

The patterns show you how to adapt patterns from a basic block.......but you could use a basic pattern in correct size for the dress you are making.
