It was volume 119, June/July 2005 issue, page 46, the issue with the ruffley "3-Hour Scarf" on the cover.

Instructions for inserting it without an invisible zipper foot are also included in the package with some invisible zippers. If yours didn't come in a package, it might be worth buying a cheap, short one in a package in order to read the instructions.

thank you for your help, I've tried that for some reason they don't quite fit on my machine and I don't have a regular zipper foot, I  guess I'm just going to have to suck it up and buy one.  I know there was an article about this topic in 2005 but I can't find it.  Thanks for the help.

I just seached online for "inserting invisible zipper" and found numerous very clear sites. The first one showed a normal zipper foot rather than an invisible zipper foot. A zipper foot doesn't cost much, and you can use it for all kinds of other applications, too, including making piping, edgestitching, and any kind of stitching in tight places. Just make sure you know whether your machine takes long-shank or short-shank feet, or take one of your regular ones with you when you look for the zipper foot. In addition to sew/vac stores, fabric stores sell zipper feet.

My earlier reply to you is showing "unread" so maybe you didn't see that it is the June/July 2005 issue that you are looking for, I believe.
