I need helP! Everytime I sew an invisble zipper on one of my garments, they get stuck and won’t sip up. They never zipe up when the dress is on the dress form. I have atleast gone through several zipper and ruined a number of dresses. What can I do? I am not usuing a special zipper foot but I might but. I have a Husqvarna 310 and it has 3 foots but noe descriptions of what they do but I think one is for invsible zippers and I have been using it all this time. Any help, please!

Thanks,

Tin

It sounds like you are stitching too closely to the teeth.

They sell an invisible zipper foot that is quite easy to use. It fits on the shank of your pressure foot and has a plastic piece that you slide from side to side. The instructions in the package are adequate. You can also use a pin tuck foot and allow the teeth to glide in one of the slots.

It helps to open the zipper and then press the teeth over before you start with an iron on low heat.

If you need any further help, please feel free to e-mail me privately and I'll walk you through it.

*Ditto to above message re sewing too close. I no longer use the special foot but always did when I first started doing invisibles. The pressing tip is a good one but make sure not to over press or use too high heat. When zip tape is pressed flat, you will see a slight change in the tape weave - sew on that line and the insertion will be perfect! If you do get too close or get thread hooked in the coil, stop, take it out completely and start over. The time is worth it.
