I have tried several of the patterns from the burda magazine and I love the styles, but for some reason all of the sleeves are tight… how can I adjust the sleeve without making it not fit into the armhole?
Realitive novice!
Thank you! Li

Hi! I love the burda patterns too. If you widen the sleeve, you must also increase the length of the armhole or the sleeve will have too much ease. For example, if you add 1" to each side of the sleeve, you must add 2" to the armhole measurement. You can do this by extending the underarm part out 1" on front and back, then tapering to nothing before the waist. Or you can "drop" the armhole base 1" (which will give you an inch in front and back).
Another option, since burdas are multisized, is to trace out the sleeve a size larger adn the armhole portion of the bodice a size larger. Then blend into the smaller size at the bodice side seam adn shoulder. (be careful, you don't want to trace tthe larger SHOULDER length) Or, trace the larger armhole onto separate paper and superimpose it onto the smaller bodice, lining up the shoulder point and side seam.
Hope some of this helps. I'm not an expert on fitting, just know what works for me!
