Help with flat felled seams

bevchris | Posted in General Discussion on

Hello.  I am having trouble with my flat felled seams and wonder if anyone can give me some easy to follow step by step instructions for sewing flat felled seams on a shirt using a flat felled pressure foot.  I have 2 flat felling feet, a 4 and a 6.

 Thank you.

Bev

Thank you for your suggestions.  I will go to the site you have recommended and follow those instructions.  Unfortunately I no longer have a VHS player, hopefully at some stage this video will be bought out on DVD.  Thanks again.

I don't think my method will help you because I use a serger which makes the seam less bulky. You can do it several ways. First straight stitch the seam then trim the bottom layer and overlock the top layer and fold the wider seam allowance over the narrower one and topstitch. For very heavy fabric the seam can be made with a 4 or 5 thread serged stitch then pressed to one side then cover stitched.
