Help with locating wide black elastic

bakereliz | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

Hi. Attached is a picture of a 2.25″ wide black elastic (one piece made of 8 bands of elastic with channels between the bands) that i am assuming is intended as waistband elastic. I bought this several years ago because it was so interesting but i can’t remember where. i finally used it on a pair of pants for Burning Man–just put it on the outside and didn’t even cover it. Looked and felt great and, more importantly, my DH loved it. i’d like to get a lot more of this elastic but can’t find it anywhere. Britex has never even seen it. Do any of you ladies have any information on it? i don’t even know what it is properly called or whether it is woven or knitted.

Is this the same?  I know they just show white but it would give you a name to look for.

It's in the same vein, but still looks like elastic to be used inside underwear. Mine looks nice enough to be worn on the outside. Both the ribs and the channels are wider and all the ribs are plush. Thanks.

This link pictures a 4-strip piece that looks might it might be similar to the 8-strip one you have. Unfortunately, there is no text description. If you contact them maybe they can help you identify what it is you have. Contact info is on the website.

I found several online references to boxer shorts with 8-strip elastic but they were all covered with fabric.

Have you checked out sources for outerwear/athletic fabrics and elastics?  Sorry I don't have any specific sites, but I'm thinking that ski suits and pants often have that kind of elastic.
