Help with sewing project

Dinascave | Posted in General Discussion on

Hello all!

I am pretty new at sewing and need some good advice on a project that I’d like to start. I have a very old sheet, very soft. I also have an even older hospital type blanket, that is shredding at the seams but is very comforting. I would like to sew the two together, but they are both so old and the edges are so frayed that I just have no idea how to combine. Any advice?

Thanks in advance…

Place right sides, or best sides together and stitch around each end and side leaving an opening large enough to turn inside out.  If you stitch at the beginning and end like this:  |___|  the opening will be easier to turn in to complete the seam for hand sewing.

You can then edge stitch or top stitch to help keep the layers from shifting.
