Here I Am “Spider Queen”

rodezzy | Posted in Photo Gallery on

I had so much fun at the party last night.  I shouldn’t be up, but I ate chili before going to bed and now my stomach is upset.  But, people were stopping me and taking my picture, and giving me all kinds of compliments.  But the couple that won were “The Pimp and His Hoe”….. Go figure!

And I forgot to take my reading glasses off for the pictures.  giggle

A Halloween Line Dancing Party today.  That was a “Steppers Set” last night.  This was the promoter’s, “Black Mary”, 30th year anniversary of giving what we call “Sets” or parties and she is also a cancer surviver.  I believe she is 61 now.  She’s so sweet, she gave everybody that participated in the contest $5.  Nobody left with nothing.  Enjoy.  Today I’m going to be “The Corpse Bride”… The same promoter is giving the Line Dancing Set today, it will be her first for us.  Weeeeeeeeeeee, I’m having a great time in my old age.  It’s so much fun to be young at heart!!!!!!

Oh, Rodezzy, you looked spectacular!  I agree with Heather - you should have won!  At least you had a really good time, you party animal, you :).    I hope you post pics of the Corpse Bride, too.  You are having fun, fun, fun!

Hi Gloria.  A little bit of a party animal, just enjoying the time I have to spend on "me" and keeping the mind active by learning more, now, about sewing.  This was the first time I used a part of another pattern to complete a garment.  When I'm motivated, I learn easier and work harder to accomplish something.

I only made a similar face piece for the other one, and you can't see that I have on a torn and ugly veil on the back of my head.  I had fun there too.  Oh I did make my girlfriends Indian outfit.  I should post it.

Oh, you look utterly fabulous!  Did you design that yourself?  Wonderful!

I used a Khali Ali pattern for the basic coat.  I them embellished with the spiders, chose the spider fabric from JoAnn's and used the collar pattern from another McCalls pattern I bought for .99 at Hancocks.  It was fun.

Never heard of Khali Ali patterns.  Do you have a link?

        1. rodezzy | | #10

Her patterns are under the Simplicity label.  I used pattern #2818 for the coat and the collar was from a McCalls pattern.  Don't have time to look that up.

Thanks everybody....I'm having a ball.  So Friday is another party.  I'm trying to do a mask for my hippie costume.  I have the clothes pretty much set, but the mask I'm having a hard time with.  I have some ideas.  We'll see what I come up with tonight.  I've kind of started, but not really.  I hope my creative streak doesn't put on the breaks just yet.

Wow, I want to be friends with you Rodezzy and be invited to all those parties with the outfits you make for me, lol! Yours and your friends Indian one are wonderful!
I remember the time we wore hippie for everyday! I can't imagine what the mask would be like though.

That would be great.  I need a friend to hit the parties with.  I ended up not going to the party last night, but better still, a good friend of mine had free tickets to see Maze featuring Frankie Beverly.  It was at the Arie crown and it was so much fun.  But I will be getting ready to go to the one today.  My Indian friend wants me to wear the Spider Queen.  I was a hippie last night.  I wore distressed jeans and jacket with a headband to the show.  I was the only one in costume, but thats o.k. with me.  I had a great time.

The spider queen outfit is so much fun to look at and I can tell, it has to be as much fun to wear. - Go creative Lady!

Start hosting them yourself!  I started inviting people over once every 2 months for a party with a purpose.  More details on that later.  When my mother got sick, my friends continued the tradition, and now we have folk planning events and hosting parties all year.

Tonite it's dinner out at a new fish restaurant.  Goal is to plan it, let folk know and do it no matter how many show up.  Whomever misses it misses a good time.

          1. justchris | | #19

That sounds like a great plan! I might just take your idea and run with it! It's too bad I have my bestest friends out in ciber space though, lol!

          2. Ceeayche | | #20

Have fun with it!  You'll be surprised who comes early and stays late.  I know I was.  I found some gems who have become dear dear friends as a result.

So, Chris ~ Where-abouts ARE you located? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~If we *all* put a little bit more information in our Profiles, I bet we'd find that a lot of us are closer to each other than we think! You can be as specific (name the neighborhood in your town) or as general (the quadrant of the State or Province) as you want, too.Or, like they say in the Monkees' theme song "We may be comin' to your town!" (grin!)Bright Blessings ~ Kharmin

You're so right about the profiles, Kharmin. I'm living in Columbia, Maryland with dh, and not too far, lives daughter and her family. My other daughter lives in Potomac Falls VA, with her family. I'll have to add to my profile.

That sounds interesting, I'm hosting my craft group this month.  I don't really want to party that much.  But every other month sounds good.  I'd have to come up with the "purpose".
