historical clothes construction

cecelia | Posted in General Discussion on

I’m interested in the historical aspects of inaugural gown construction starting with Martha Washington’s inaugural gown, or a someone from that era, through to Laura Bush.   You did one on Hillary Clinton’s first inaugural gown that was very interesting.

Thank you

My mother used to volunteer at the Smithsonian, and the two questions she was asked the most were, where are the bathrooms? and Where are the first ladies gowns??? and now that I think about it, the third most asked question was where were the dollhouses? The Smithsonian has a curator for the gowns, I'm pretty sure, and an article from them on preservation of the gowns would be fascinating!!!
