hello, I am a first time visitor and I need some help. I’d like to adapt Simplicity pattern 5564 in a size 10 to a size 16. This is an a-line skirt with a yoke. I have to have this skirt finished by Monday. It should fit a 40″ hip.
Do I add the extra at the fold, split it, or what? Thanks for any help you can give me !! Karen

By Monday the 7th or Monday the 14th? Are we too late to help?
Hello, I did finish the skirt, in a stretch denim, and used a stretchy double fold edging(for slinky knit fabric?) so I was hedging my bets with that fabric. The skirt was successful.
I am still very interested in the correct way to do this. I added extra on each edge, tried it on the girl, and trimmed to fit.
How would you have done this? Thanks oodles, Karen
In an old article in Threads on sizing up for plus size, they showed just adding to side seams the amount needed divided by 4. the other way is to slit pattern top to bottom and add the amount divided by 4. I compare pattern hip and waist and then needed hip and waist, not what is there as this would take up needed ease, and just divide by 4 and add at side seams. don't increase at center back or front.Nancy
Thanks Nancy! I appreciate your helpfulness. I am just re-entering the world of sewing, so much has changed in twenty years!
