Hi! I know how to sew the top part of the sewing machine already, but I am having trouble with the bottom part of the sewing machine. The part underneath the needle where the compartment is. I can’t figure out how to thread it so the thread will come up through the sewing machine. The sewing machine is a very old model. Please help! Thanks!

Depending on your machine, you have a removeable bobbin case or a drop in bobbin. For a removeable bobbin case, romove the case, take out the old bobbin (check the way it is in so you can replace it the same way) if there is one. Put in a new bobbin with the thread end on top pointing to the right. Wrap it around the bobbin tension and pull on the thread end. The bobbin should unwind clockwise (to the right). If you have a Singer Featherweight, it should unwind to the left (counter clockwise). Replace the bobbin case into the machine. Hold onto the end of the needle thread in your left hand and turn the fly wheel toward you one full turn. The needle will go down and back up, bring the bobbin thread with it. Put both threads behind the machine and start sewing.
For a drop in bobbin, note the way the bobbin is in the case. Remove the old bobbin (if any) and replace with the new one. Most drop-in bobbin cases thread counterclockwise. Have the thread on top of the bobbin pointing left. Put in case and wrap around the tension. When you pullon the end the bobbin should turn to the left.
Bring up the thread the same as above.
Chris.
