Hi all –
I am new to this site. I have been doing custom window treatments as a business for over 25 years. I am interested in getting my techniques out of my head and on to paper. I have trained many seamstresses over the years who have all turned around and started their own businesses. I would love to know if there is an interest for those of you out there who are talented “home sewers”. I have not looked thru this site to see if there have been any discussions. If you want to check out some of my work I do have a blog: drapery101.blogspot.com. However, I am interested in joining these type of forums and discussions to get the info out there — hope some of you are interested in getting some conversations going, whether it is about techniques or starting your own home drapery business. Thanks!! Kristen

Hi Kristen, I also do home decor for a living. I love this forum, so many smart people ready to jump in and help with any problems. My biggest problem seems to be abusive clients ! I'd love to hear your ideas for fixing them ! You can see my work on my site, http://www.homedecsewing.com .I welcome suggestions and feedback. What city are you in? Susan
Hi Susan --
Your work is lovely! I am located in New Haven, CT. most of my work is done for clients in Fairfield County, Ct (Greenwich - New Canaan - Stamford - Westport) and Westchester County NY and NYC. I work about 95% with designers so there is a little buffer at this point between the client and myself. What exactly do you mean by abusive clients? I am curious, altho I have a sense of what you mean. If you care to elaborate i will certainly share my experiences/ dealings with the same situations. You may have more hassels since it looks like you act as designer and workroom -- there is so much involved in that kind of relationship! I would love to hear more from you -- and you are right about this site -- so much more info and many more serious sewers. Hope to hear from you -- Thanks, Kristen
