      New to the Forum

      Welcome to Thread's Gatherings.

A few years ago this site was teeming with members exchanging tips and ideas as well as commenting on life in general.  Then someone in the hierarchy decided to change the format.  This upset a lot of the members and they stopped "gathering".

Although PatternReview (not just about patterns) is the most active site I have found we need to keep this one as active as possible.

Please, ask away.  I visit here everyday and Helga is also a frequent visitor whose knowledge of sewing and such is helpful to anyone who wants to ask, comment  or just read and learn.

If I do not know the answer to your questions, I start searching.  This helps me to help you and I learn along the way.  I have been sewing for many, many years and as I always say - strive to learn something new every day!

Enjoy the craft of sewing.  It can benefit you personally, may lead to a source of income or just provide fun and relaxation (although frustrating at times, you too may come to see sewing this way as well..........and it is less expensive than a shrink!).

Before the new format, I was a regular here on Gatherings, and you are right, it has not been the same convivial site.  I've just gone through multiple efforts to get my membership confirmed to be able to participate once again.  I found that my questions were not answered and the site is so difficult to navigate - for instance, I've spent a lot of time trying to find the Magazine Index and have asked several times "where is it?"   Today, actually by accident on the home page I found the index; I was afraid that  would have to buy an Index CD to use my large, almost complete, stash of magazines.

Right now I am looking for instructions on narrowing the upper chest measurement, I'd like a closer fit which still leaves the bust measurement as is.  I know it is in one of those mags, but which one?

        ?

I no longer keep the magazines and have the CD with the issues through last year.  I searched "narrow shoulders" and found articles in issues 33, 41, 45, 59 and 120.

Hope this will help in your search.

I too was a regular visitor and contributor to this site.  Then it changed and was inaccessible. Now it's sad to see that many topics while still up for comment have not been active for literally years.  Change can be good some times but in this case it was surely a step backwards!  The only plus is that I don't spend any time on the Internet any more.

Maybe this will change again sometime. It was so friendly and pleasant!

    Knock - knock. Anyone there?

Helga, I visit here everyday.  And, if staff is doing the same, they are not doing their job.

Every week there are posts that are so obviously inappropriate in that they want readers to go to a site they represent, which is very sketchy.  I tried one and my security program flagged it as unsafe.  So, I stay away from them just in case they are spam or a virus.

I see now they have a partner who will make a comment as though they are enthralled with the products.

The phrases and terms used send up a red flag and "staff" should be wise to this.  Along with this, other clue is how long they have been "members".
