identify fabric

Hello everyone i am having some trouble finding out what type of fabric i recevied, i was givin two 10 gallon trash bags full of fabric and i have no clue what type it is the lady said its mostly knit but how or where can i go to figure it all out so i can mark it and know what i have for when i am needing a type of fabric if anyone has any suggestions or tips would be great and i thank you

    The most common method of identifying fabric content is by burning a small swatch.  Different fibers have very different odors and the residue looks different.  Some turns to ash, some forms a hard plastic-like bead, etc.  The above site will give you some help getting started.  You can Google "identify fabric" and find several other sources. It isn't always possible to be certain what you have.

      The fabric is faux leather, machine quilted with faux patten leather
