Hi, its been awhile, the holdays. I need some help. I bought a Christian Lacroix crushed brocade on a whim ofcourse and wow what a beautiful fabric. I just need some direction. I’ve sewn crushed fabrics in home dec. projects but this is different. I want to do a jacket. To maintain the “crushed” texture do you think it should be “applied” to an interlining or is this a free flowing sort of thing. I’m guesing mini handling and few seams but I don’t know. Has anyone sewn this type of fabric? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I hope you don't mind this message - after all, I've never sewn anything from that beautiful fabric you just described, but here's my input - have you run across a book entitled Fabric Savvy by Sandra Betzina. She covers how to deal with most types of fabrics and it might be helpful. It may be available at your public library or you could request the helpful folks at the circulation/checkout desk have the book sent to you to that library via inter-library loan (a wonderful arrangement).
Good luck with that luscious fabric!
Julie
Thank you I have seen that book mentioned and I have a few of her reference books for fitting. Will give it a try. This fabric is worth the research.
Hello again,
You are going to think I'm pretty dumb but I forgot to add a request to my previous message. Could you please post a photo (if you can) of your completed garment? I'd love to see whatever you come up with...
Julie
