Interfacing for Knits.

SeoulSearch | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

Hi,

Could anyone recommend a good lightweight interfacing that will work with knits and bias cuts? (What should I ask for at the fabric store?) I bought some fusible knit interfacing that was recommended to me but I didn’t realize that it only stretches on the crosswise grain and is not wide enough for the facings in my project. I’m new at sewing knits, so any advice is appreciated.

Thank you!

Kim

    Hi Kim

Nancy Erickson at http://www.fashionsewing.com has 60 inch width textured weft (Nancys Fusible Underlining) in white or black.

I believe it is best to shrink this in lukewarm water before using.   (Not too hot - so as not to melt the beads of glue.)

I have fused a narrow strip of so-sheer at the shoulder seam of knits before sewing.

    Nuelle.
