invisible zipper

After I sew an invisible zipper into a garment, I have difficulty getting a smooth transition where I continue stitching from the bottom of the zipper to sew the garment center back seam. Anyone have a solution? Thanks.

Sheila - try pulling the zipper as much as possible out of the way of the seam, and place a pin to hold it out of the way without distorting the seam. The seam will never actually be "straight", as we perceive it, but it will help reduce the bulkiness you are getting in this area. I use a straight stretch stitch in this area to make it stronger, but it's not absolutely necessary if you don't have that feature on your machine.

Lastly, use the attachment recommended for this zipper application (it's very inexpensive), and follow the directions precisely, either from the foot manufacturer, zipper manufacturer or a good basic sewing book.
