IS THERE ONE MACHINE THAT DOES MOST ALL

junem | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

I have an Elna Heirloom sewing machine and am currently looking for a good all-around serger that can sew a seam, serge it, cut it in one action — for clothing and quilting uses. Is there any such machine available, and which one is the best for both knits and wovens?  I only have about $800.00 to spend at the most and would like one for considerably less.  Where can I look on the internet for comparisons?  I have tried the various machine websites, but they only want to compare their own machines.

Thanks for any input.
