is this kenmore home sew a good choice?

wenlea | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

I have a new Kenmore home sew machine.  Before I open the box I wondered if anyone can tell me if this is a good one.   The machine is the Kenmore 20-19110.  I sew silk gowns, as well as drapes.  I need a good or very good straight stitch machine.  If this isn’t the greatest machine, what’s a good one to buy for about $300.00.

Thanks very much.

there are sewing machine reviews on http://www.patternreview.com, in fact, almost 1,000 so you should be able to check it out.  I'm helping my mother in law look for a new machine under $400.00 and it is quite the quest.  I think she is leaning toward a Brother machine.  I have 3 Husq/Vikings and love them all.  Mary

Dear Wenlea, I cannot advise you about which machine to purchase, but suggest you to give thought to this question--If you have trouble with your machine, or even want to take it for yearly maintenance, to whom are you going to turn? I consider my dealer is at least as important as the brand of machine; I can call mine up at night and he will "walk me
through" my difficulties. God bless you, Galey
