Looking for a pattern that can be made with heavier knits or lightweight wovens that would put the gathering at the sides, not the front or back as I am a small size and have a very flat butt.

I just sewed my own pants by using this book "Patternmaking
for Fashion Design " of Helen Joseph Armstrong. Everything
is fine, except the side seams are not perpendicular
with the ground. Could anyone show me how to fix this problem?
Thanks
*Darlene, you don't a particular pattern for this. Any darted pattern can be used by not stitching the dart at front or back, lengthening the waistband, and slightly straightening the side seam from about 6" down side up to the waistline.(abt 1"). To get the new waistband length measure completely across the front including dart and amount straightened on side. Do back measuremnt the same. This gets new waistband length. sew up pants, sew on new waistband. On each side of the sideseam measure over abt 3" and mark. (6" on each side of pants) now measure front and back darts and amount added to each side seam. subtract from the 6" - this should equal the size elastic for each side - add 1" to seaming. sew one end of elastic on the mark on wstbnd 3" over from SS using1/2" allow on elastic sew other end to other mark on same side. Adjust as needed.
