Jeans into a skirt???

Hello I have had a request from a young man who wants to give his girlfreind his jeans made into a denim skirt!!!!!! Its an anniversary present! Have any of you done this and if so how? What do I do with the crotch bit???Have i let myself in for a big deal????

    If it hasn't already occured to you to ask, check whether these jeans fit her as jeans. He may not realize that you are only changing the legs into a skirt, not cutting down or enlarging the waist and hips.

    I did this for my daughter with too tight jeans and added inserts down the side.  My husband patiently took out all the stitching so that I had  seam allowances which helped reduce the fray factor.  Here are some pictures.
