Hello and welcome! Oh, those lovely trousers Katherine Hepburn wore, those are true trousers. If you are into pattern drafting you will find exactly how to make this style at http://www.vintagesewing.info
My favorite trouser sections is here:

Beware, this author really explains the method in depth, but how interesting it is.
If pattern drafting and theory is not your thing then I am sure someone here on the forum will come up with a contemporary pattern that fits the bill.
Hi, thanks for the info. lucy.
Take a look at http://www.folkwear.com in the 'Retro" section for the Hollywood pants. http://www.sewingworkshop.com also has a Hollywood pant pattern with similar styling.

Hi, thanks for the info. lucy.
Hi, thanks for the info. lucy.
The "Rosie the Riveter" overalls from http://www.folkwear.com are excellent and fairly easy to put together.
Hi, thanks for the info. lucy.
I love my old Calvin Klein pants pattern, Vogue 1626, which reminds me of the old Hepburn slacks. These slacks have a wide, high waistband, pleated hips, and slightly tapered legs. There's a nice wraparound, long straight skirt too.
