I was thinking about buying Classic tailoring techniques: a construction guide for mens wear by Roberto Cabrera that was mentioned here in a discussion on fitting mens pants. It looks great from the excerpts I can read on Amazon. I see that there is a book by the same authors in the same format for women’s wear but no excerpts are offered. Is anyone familiar with the women’s wear version?

Yes, I own both.
If you can only purchase one, get the women's version. It is pretty much the same as the men's, but there are more topics covered and more variations of design (like peplums, skirts, a couple of different pockets). Either book is a valuable addition to your library. This is the kind of quality tailoring not often encountered nowadays without large amounts of money changing hands:)

Then that is the one. It sounds like it can answer many of my questions. One book at a time, but there are so many that tempt. I noticed China Chic: East Meets West which might be a good ispiration book. Well, the women's wear book will keep me busy now. Thanks for your help!
