Layer seams

indiana_red | Posted in General Discussion on

Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum and definitely new to sewing! 🙂 This will be my first garment so I’m sure I’ll have tons of questions. First let me say I’m using pattern A6119 from Newlook. Making option A. I’m working on a drawstring for around the neck, it’s asking for a LAYER seam and I’m unsure of what this means. HELP please.

    Seam Layering/Grading

Welcome to Gatherings.  I believe the author of the instructions is referring to "grading the seam", which means to trim one layer to reduce bulk.  Layering may just be the new grading?

    Here is a visual tutorial - http://www.ehow.com/how_8788997_do-layered-seam.html
