Laying fabric over retail jacket

fredjan | Posted in General Discussion on

I have a retail Navy Jacket with huge embroidery and applique designs that are too loud, and not pleasing to wear.

I have 30 inches of a 60″ wide microsuede(faux suede)..I’d like to lay this on..anyway, my quest. is how could I finish the piece of the overlay on the raw edge…just clean finish?  I would cut to fit..the front ….any ideas?

                                                                                                                 Thanks,       fredjan

Can you open up some of the seams and include it in the seam lines (side/shoulder/armhole?  Could you wrap the edge with a binding over the old and new.  Or can you do some couching of interesting cord over the raw edges?  Interesting idea.
