LED sewing light?

moonie | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

Can anyone recommend a small LED lamp to use for sewing? My machine (Bernina 950) doesn’t have a built-in light and I’ve been using an adjustable arm desk type lamp for years, but it always seems to be in the way.

Thanks, Ken

MoonieLook for portable reading lights -- some of the kind that clip onto a book are also capable of standing on their own and having the aim adjusted (check a bookstore, or amazon, etc.) Battery powered, but the batteries last pretty well.Lori

After battling a swing arm desk lamp (and losing the battle) for many years, I hung a white paper lantern lamp from overhead just left of my needle.  I use a bright, true-color compact flourescent bulb in it and love it.  The socket/cord combination costs about $10 at import stores, and the paper lantern was less than that; the on/off switch is on the floor end of the cord, next to the machine pedal--very convenient.

Although it's a hanging lamp, I didn't need to use a ceiling mount, as it's lightweight enough to hang from an existing shelf and/or a ceiling vent (with a large paper clip) nearby.  It's a very efficient light and is beautiful, too.
