I would like suggestions as to what to use to line a dress made from raw silk. I’m allergic to polyester and think that a rayon lining would be too hot for Chicago’s humid summer days! Would voile do the trick?

A rayon lining, such as Ambience, would probably work fine. But since it's a silk garment, how about lining with silk?

*Le, If you haven't been to one of the Vogue fabric stores in Evanston or Chicago, this is the time to check it out. They have tables of silks, some of them $5.99/yd or less. If you don't find something to match and your fabric isn't too light in color--be bold. Gloria
*hello,I would suggest a light cotton voile or batiste, I once made a pair of slacks from a raw tussah silk and used a bemberg lining... the pants were nice but I didn't get the feeling of wearing raw silk, they were too "smooth"!I ripped out the liner and used voile instead...The pants felt better and looked better too! Voile will do the trick....good luck!PS remember to cut the voile at least 3/8ths of an inch larger per panel...as it can be quite fragile!
*I was at Vogue Fabrics in Lansing, IL. I wanted to get black Bemberg to line a jacket, but they happened to be out. So I found some black and white polka-dot silk for a dollar less per yard than the Bemberg! I like the idea of wild linings, and you can often find wild silk patterns at good prices.
