During a previous discussion in this forum about Chanel-like jackets, I raised questions about how to line a jacket to the edge as is the case with these jackets. Much valuable help was provided; however, I found exactly what I was looking for in terms of ‘how to’ and, I am sharing it with those who maybe interested.

I purchased Claire Shaeffer’s new Vogue Pattern No. 8369. In the Couture directions accompanying this pattern are the step-by-step instructions for lining a jacket to the edge. Her method involves, of course, a lining the size of the jacket, handstitching in the form of fell stitches to hold the seam/edges in place, and either running or prickstitches to keep the lining from rolling.

I am about to conclude that if one reads, and then follows by combining various/appropriate steps from Claire Shaeffer Couture techniques (as outlined in her patterns) that a  Channel, couture-like jacket can be easily constructed.

Being an expert in the construction of Chanel clothing it seems as if the ‘whole’ technique is taught by Ms. Shaeffer in parts through many of her patterns.

I am one that truly looks forward to any pattern that Claire Shaeffer comes out with as her teaching methods in each one are invaluable, and my ‘sewing dream’ is to be a student of hers and Susan Khalje in the near future.
