Lining a summer raincoat

LindaG | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

Hello,

I want to make a summer raincoat from a breathable PUL (polyurethane laminate). This needs to be lined because the laminate won’t stand up to abrasion, but I want a lining that also breathes. Has anyone every tried to sew with this, and do you have any suggestions for linings?

Thanks,
Linda

Linda, I am often too warm so ALWAYS consider the breath-ability of any lining. Check out seattlefabrics.com they have a variety of sport related fabrics many wicking or ventilated like the mesh I will provide a link for right HERE. http://www.seattlefabrics.com/Athletic.jpg
Just copy and paste the entire link into a web browser to visit. Good luck with your project. I have gortex jackets with this meshy lining to protect the special coating for this high tech fabric. Good luck,
    Alice

Alice,Thank you for the quick response. I will try a mesh -- it seems like that would be just the thing.Linda

I would use a walking foot when you sew it.
