little eyelet dress

fabricholic | Posted in Photo Gallery on

This is the dress I made for my grand daughter. My daughter wanted an eyelet dress for her. It’s Butterick 4501 view A. It was too big, so I put a safety pin in to hold it in the back.

that's really sweet and has to be the happiest face I've seen In a long time!

Thanks, Ralphetta. When I am around her, that happiness is contagious.

You don't have to be physically near her...just looking at the photo made me grin from ear-to-ear.

I'm so pleased for you all. She is adorable. ( How is the little strawberry dress, worn it out? - May). I'd love the eyelet in my size....lol and I will jump on your couch/sofa with joy!  Well done!

The strawberry dress washes so well. I love the material. I lined the eyelet dress or underlined, I guess you would call it. Doing that worked out well. I would make you one, but it would be too big, like hers. LOL

Very, VERY cute!  Love the matching white sandals, too!  Looks like she's already learned the art of accessorizing!  Nice job on the dress!

As you can see in the other pictures, she doesn't care much for shoes. Her mommy puts them on her. She is our little dress up doll. So fun when they don't care what they wear.

She and the dress are adorable!!!  Thanks for sharing.

I think if you make bias tubes with elastic in them and attatch them at the sides, they could be removed later as she grows.

    1. fabricholic | | #12

Do you just attach them to the sides stretched out and then just let them draw up the sides?

      1. MaryinColorado | | #15

If that doesn't seem comfortable, it could be tacked down all the way across the back with a wider stitch width so it would be easy to take out later.  In fact, I'd make sure not to stitch through the elastic so you can slip it out of the side seams later.

        Does this make sense?

Yes, it makes sense. I think the side seams would work out, because the back center has a zipper in it.

What a sweet dress. Very nice, fabricholic. I know what fun grandchildren are, too...my almost-6-year-old grandson is great fun, too. He thinks I'm a genius because I made his halloween costume last year. I may as well enjoy that reverence now, before he finds out I'm not very clever at all.

He is a wise young man. We know what you can do. I like it when they appreciate you. Gives me the warm fuzzies everytime she says, "Oh Ma".

She is absolutely darling and so is her pretty white dress. Her face is one that just lights up and I can see it lights up Grandma too. Great job!

Thanks. You know how us doting grandma's can be with our grandbabies.

Thank you for the compliments. Everyone that hasn't posted a sewing project, should try it. It is so much fun to see what people have written about your project. Who doesn't like compliments.
