   Try hancocks of paducah.  They have lots of women's purse patterns similar to the vera bradleys.  Prices are pretty good, I've ordered many times from them.  They also have tons of fabrics.  The web site is not the greatest, but I found the backpack pattern by searching for backpack.  Here's the link http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/.  Hope it helps!
