I live in the Midwest within resonable distance to three metropolitan areas. I’m looking for high-quality fabric that I can buy to make clothing that will last. All I have in the immediate area is the big chain stores chock full of cheap fleece and quilting fabric. I can’t even find much on the Internet anymore. Does anyone know of a website or an independent shop in Minneapolis or Kansas City?
Thanks for you help!

looking for good fabric
It depends on what you are trying to make. For skirts and trousers I'd go for linen and cotton, but they crease easily.
For tops, blouses and light jackets, silk, cotton, linen.

This will get you started
I know this is an old topic, but I just started looking at the forums and decided to chime in.
I've always shopped at Exquisite Fabrics, in their former DC store and now in their Virginia store. They have a website now so you can order online. http://www.exqfabrics.com. They've been doing mail order since the stone age and they still do, because many of their customers live in DC for a short time and then move back to their hometowns or even abroad. Exquisite is known for top quality and for natural fiber fabrics.
