I am looking at Pfaff Expression sewing machines. Can anyone share their experiences machine quilting crib and lap size quilts? Is it possible to obtain satisfactory results? I’m new at quilt making and I’d love to machine quilt my work! Thanks!

I have machine quilted on three different Pfaffs (the 1471, the 7530, and the 7570) and all three machines performed beautifully. If you can, take a small quilt sample (a sandwich of backing, batting, top fabric, about the size of a potholder) to your dealer and see if he will let you try out a few lines of stitching on the sample. Try some straight stitching (and if the machine has a built-in stipple, try that; it will help you get an idea of more "involved" quilting lines). If you know how to do free-motion quilting, ask the dealer if he'll let you do that too.

I have been using the Pfaff Expressions 2014 for almost a year now and it has held up to everything that I've put it through. I use warm and natural batting for all of my quilts and my machine has been able to quilt everything from lap quilt to a queen size that I made last February. I have yet to have a problem with it. I usually only get to use it a few days a month because I am a full-time college student, so I'm not sure how it would hold up to more rigorous use. Good luck!
