Making a Jacket – what type of lining?

Linda775 | Posted in Fabric Guidance on

I am making a ladies Moto Jacket out of light Home Decor fabric,  would like to know what kind of lining would be best for this fabric. the fabric is 100% Cotton, & can be washed, Also, is it possible to make a jacket out of this type of fabric. I don’t see much talk about it.

polyester lining is washable. you'll also have to think about interfacings
if you plan on washing the finished garment you'll have to think about ironing it

Yes, polyester is washable but I don't think it would be the best lining. It can be clingy and it doesn't absorb moisture. Try a rayon lining and make sure it's washable. The best kind is Bemberg rayon. Make sure your interfacings are washable too.

Absolutely a washable Bemberg rayon lining is best, as it will breathe with the cotton of the fabric.
