Man’s Jacket

sewnel65 | Posted in Patterns on

I’m planning to make Kwik Sew 3123 for my husband and have a gorgeous piece of Pendelton wool for the jacket.  What shall I use for the lining?  It shows on the collar.  The pattern back suggests polar fleece or flannel.  I feel this would be too “sticky” and hard to get in and out of.  Shall I use regular lining and another fabric for the collar.  Any great ideas??

Yes, I think a wool lining - perhaps your same Pendleton wool - or the recommended polar fleece or flannel, would be great on the collar, with a slippery lining at least for the sleeves. I don't know about coat linings, but this jacket looks like it is meant to be a thick, warm, jacket, so maybe a quilted lining would be good. You could use something slippery, channel-quilted to cotton flannel, just for lining the back and sleeves, with the contrast collar fabric used also on the inside of the front of the jacket.
